why have I got 2 nipples?

  1. Is there any reason for my (72 late bay ATE) brake calipers having 2 bleed nipples?

Which one should I bleed the brakes through?

    Ta,

  2. Whichever one you tweak, you should always pay a little attention to the other ;)

  3. Bleed em from the upper one, thats were the air will rise to:)

  4. Don't forget the clamps !

    Tassels are optional ;)

  5. Can you get them going in opposite directions?

  6. Right, the missus can pump while I twist the nipples.

  7. bottom one is to empty it...

And the bottom nipple is to get the old fluid out completely - that special black brake fluid that lasts 40 years...

There are two so one style fits either side - I thought.

  10. Me too.

  11. Girling callipers have the pipe inlet at the top, so they're 'sided'.

They've still got two nipples, but I'm not sure what the bottom one is for. Getting muck out seems the best answer so far.

Maybe they were fitted to other cars too, upside-down. I saw some on an ford which looked really similar.
