Hi I'm just fitting up my bus after a huge resto had it back from paint and fitting up cab doors but the windows are so stiff they won't wind up with freely has anyone got a pic of how it all looks set up as I never stripped the doors got all seals but not got these clips for the top and side felt (is this all 1 piece or do I cut it into 2 bits) sorry for the stupidity my 1st vw !!
Brill that's exactly what iv fine to (pure luck ) but widows both sides are so stiff but not got fell clips maybe the reason ??
I did a write up a long time ago. There's a link to it on a thread a few weeks ago. I don't know how to get it onto this thread from my phone but can do it from the proper computer fir you tomorrow. Remind me if I forget
Yes zed both holes both sides screw in easy ! I'm hoping these felt clips pull it in a bit other wise I'm stick really !
Mine was stiff. Is the guide rail on the regulator straight ? Mine was bent and caused it to be stiff. Improved after slight hammer treatment,
The lifter mechanism might be alk gunked up. I usually spray it with degreaser, wind it up and down a bit to get the dirt out, then work in some clean oil. Before fitting in the door
Afternoon Im afraid Im jumping onto your thread 1973 daisy. I had had a problem with my passenger window not shutting, it had been super stiff to open and close then stuck about 1ocm open. Ive had the door cards off today and the sort of Tee piece that the glass sits on was half way down with the glass about 20cm higher. At least I have now shut the window so can go out in my van again, however, I tested a few times before replacing the door card and the glass still remains stuck in place (unless I pull it down) with the Tee piece dropping nicely when wound down. Any suggestions please should the glass move freely of its own accord? Thanks ps top web page link keith.h
mine were very tight after rebuilding the doors with new felt (with clips fitted) I think they need bedding in for a while, I left the windows wound up for a few months and they are a lot better now....some one did mention spraying in a spray PTFE lubricant which is supposed to help
Yes Is that meant to actually grab the glass so that it can pull the window open? Tyke 2 - did the no nails not crack up the glass/felt? That may be my next move! Diddy men - I did wonder if the window /door felt/trim was cacked up and causing the glass to stick? Maybe some rust has accumulated?! I have some silicon spray but don't want to damage the felt. Does anyone know if talcum powder works? I know that sounds a bit random but I'm sure I read it somewhere!
No nail worked fine. It looked like the previous owner had used some adhesive before. I have bought new T piece and rubber fillet for from JK for if it fails but it's lasted a couple of months so far.
