...a bumper iron mounted bike carrier? I'm going to have one made up for me as I want a bike carrier that isn't boot or towbar mounted and just wondered if anyone else would be interested? Only testing the water at the moment, need to check out legalities of it all/design tweeks/electrics etc. but just wondered? Thoughts on a postcard!
Seems like a good idea to me!! 1 thought tho, I have a bent bumper which means one iron is fitted with one bolt not two.... but I suppose there's no legislating for how a toe ball naught be fitted to the van either
Not sure I catch your drift... I'm thinking that the bike carrier would replace the bumper... so having a bent bumper wouldn't be a problem...? As long as the irons are okay?
Ah I see. I though it would rest on the irons and keep the bumpers, which I imagine would need the irons properly bolted!
I'd rather have the bike carrier closer to the back of the van for getting in a parking space/taking small hills/bridges than factor in the extra length for the bumper, you could reattach the bumper and take the carrier off if you weren't going to use it for a while (that's my idea anyway!)
This van seems to have a wheel carrier and bike rack combo on the bumper http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswage...Motorhomes&hash=item35c7ca8774#ht_1265wt_1085
