Brilliant , thought that must be right as back end lines up, but wasn’t convinced as this panel needs to got in and doesn’t seem to line up with the panel already there and the wheel arch.
Stopped for today, but happy with the process so far... inner sill done, both outrigger done, now lining up the inner sill.
Thats useful I see a lot of people repair the bit with the step down & its hard to see how to repair the area as it should be from pics. The rest of my b post is pretty solid but I have to sort that bit, rotted all where the seat box joins it. Did you get it ligned up in the end, & if not has your wheel arch been repaired before? That would be my guess that the existing is not quite origional? Good luck with it
Got a spare few hours this morning, so attached the inner sill, offered up the outer bottom panel repair and it very close indeed, so happy with that. Next job to repair the B panel .
Got a few hours on the camper this morning. Sorting out the B pillar , inner/outer. Cut it all out and also removed part of the arch, new one will be fitted once B pillar is all in place. Hope I’m doing it right
H E L P Just trying to sort the inner/outer B pillar, but the panel seems to be miles out, where should the bottom part actually sit and where should the inner sit. I offered the main B pillar up against the inner sill and also lined up the outer sill and as you can see by the photo’s something just isn’t right. I also lined up the inner closing panel and the square box sections appears to sit right. What have I done wrong, my book isn’t much help....
Does this help? It's 68 LHD but I'm guessing the lining up of parts didn't change. This is all original.
I know, that's why I pointed it out. All the bits line up the same though. Sadly most buses are in similar condition to yours before repair, it's quite rare to find a RHD one that hasn't already been fixed but hopefully someone will have a better pic.
Ap Appreciate your help. I hoping I haven’t done anything wrong and it’s just something simply I’m missing
What happens if you slide the outer and the big side repair panel down to meet the sill? Is the inner post a vw brazil part? And the other two aftermarket?
Did you assemble the front outrigger/jacking point and repair the tophat above it? It looks different to how I remember them. From how everything sits, could it be 5mm or so too long?
The B panel itself is currently flush with existing part of the panel, if I move the large panel down, then I want have anything to attach it too
Yes repaired top hat/outriggers/inner/middle sill. Lined up outrigger with what was left of the previous top hat to get alignment right, inner sill flush with what left at the rear of vehicle, and inner sill makes what was there before, some hoping it’s a problem with the b post
You mean you've already cut the large side/sill panel to length? You can buy another. And if you mean the B outer, you can fill in the resulting gap - you won't be the first person to do that.
