Would you convert your T2 to electric

  1. I'd agree. Electric motors and fuel cells, if we are going down that path.

The only thing that interests me would be a serial hybrid with a maybe 30HP boost for going up hills or trundling a few miles .. keeping the existing engine but just giving it a kick..

    Cheaper to make a 1904..

  5. Somewhat suspicious of the claims of these 20 and 22 yr old students to be able to go 450 miles on a sunny day…looks like enough canopy cum roof for about 300wP array . Wouldn’t keep a bafang electric bike in charge . No tech details .. but it is the guardian so there you go ..

It is probably 450 miles circling on a smooth track .

  7. While peddling. With a tailwind . Would regret that laminate sink unit after the first loop. The white storage unit alone would need 3 x 100 watt panels and a few sunny days (shining bright with Hopium and unobtanium - solar tractor production exceeded expectations this month, comrades)

  8. Hydrogen is just as easy to store and manage as petrol and far less volatile if a tank ruptures in a vehicle it escapes into the atmosphere instead of leaking everywhere and producing fumes that can ignite easily obviously the petrochemical giants don't want this to happen as it would take away their stranglehold on energy prices and oil revenue I'm working on projects to create green hydrogen at the moment and fuel cell tech in cars has been around for at least 20 years already it seems to be a far better alternative to Electric vehicles

  9. What are you creating the fuel cells from - commas and full stops?!

It's that eco punctuation. It doesn't have the staying power of fossil fuel based punctuation! Blame Greta! :D

Fuel cells and supercapacitors for regenerative braking and acceleration.

  12. Wikipedia seems to disagree with you. A ruptured tank at 2-5000 psi would do more than just escape, explosive volatile shrapnel. H2 is the greatest escape artist , it’s so small it will seep through most barriers, faster than spending money on a Bay. . It boils at -256C. So would be liquid just like petrol , but only on Pluto.

No Insult to all on here , but certainly in my case, if the price to convert to electric is on par to the prices of that cowboy on Vintage Voltage , then its at least three times the value of my van to convert .
I'm sure the price will come down but at the moment it makes no financial sense but as mentioned before by someone , i wont be around by then to concern myself of it.

  14. A litre of petrol contains about 40 times more energy than a kilo of lithium Batteries. So a 60 litre tank of petrol would need a 40x60 kgs of batteries to match the energy a bus would have now. 2,400kgs….2.4 tonnes extra weight….so it won’t get any better on hills :)

If I wanted an electric vehicle - I'd buy an electric vehicle.
But I don't want an electric vehicle - I want a 50 year old camper with a noisy petrol engine at the wrong end, pump up windscreen washers and wobbly steering.
I personally think it's daft to buy an old camper and modernise it to be like a modern vehicle - kind of misses the point.

  16. Didn’t you change to electric washers

  17. Yes, I would eventually, but suspect the cost will be the limiting factor. I'd also put solar panels on the garage roof to charger him during the week and drive him at the weekend. I cycle to work.

Noise emissions will be the next target for vehicles, even if you can find the petrol for your V8, it will be taken off the road for being too noisy. The local paper over here had a story about a 'modified' AMG Merc that was taken off the road due to being too noisy, and having two bald tyres and illegal software manipulation... Autoposers hey.

Haven't they found lithium in Cornwall? Most elements and minerals seem to be down there somewhere, wasn't it uranium a few years back? They just need to put a third rail on the motorways and give everyone those little pickups you used to have on the bottom of Scalextric cars. We could spend the rest of our lives straightening them out after every journey.
