It connects back into the air filter box for single carb setups. I'm guessing its a kind of breather system of some kind although I'm not 100% sure.
It still connects to the air filter. EDIT: Fuel tank breather to one air filter, crankcase breather to the other.
This is pesky number 24... Found where the solid metal breather pipe turns upwards and travells up into the higher portion of the rear corner. On the left (passenger side of RHD) side around the other side of the spare wheel arch.
Ahh fair. Fraid I have no more pics. Can take some when I'm next at the van on Friday if no one else can provide tho
I have had the petrol smells from Split fuel filler neck Leaking tank to filler elbow Breather pipe behind spare wheel well cracked .. its exposed to petrol and heat. And most recently 4 pinholes rusted from inside on top of tank..
I also had a pin hole in one of the metal breather loops behind the air intakes. Managed to seal it with a bit of epoxy resin.
so many potential issues so I think in the first instance I’ll do some sharp left handers in the yard I keep my van in and see if there’s any sign of leakage at the filler side just in case it’s an easy fix then probably remove the engine and change out all the breather pipe work take the tank out and inspect it change filler neck and sender which incidentally doesn’t work anyway and while I’m at it I’m actually going to spray the engine bay cause hopefully it’ll be a while before I drop the engine again
Here’s another daft question just checking JK website and it looks like I just buy breather pipe work and fittings rather than a complete kit is that right?
Whether you buy breather pipe work and fittings rather than a complete kit depends on what you intend to replace. Use the diagram that Joe posted and you’ll see the bits you need but if your ICT air filters don’t have the connection for the breathers, you’ll need to buy them separately. I use these: https://www.dellorto.co.uk/shop/vw-...manifolds-linkages-parts/breather-pipe-elbow/ If it’s missing or broken, you’ll need the ‘T’ piece that joins the two fuel tank breathers at the top of the engine bay, item 15A on the diagram, part number 211201405. https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/211201405-t-piece-for-fuel-tank-breather-system.html And item 28, part number 055129638 a reducer to connect the fuel tank breather to the air filter elbow. https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/055129638-air-vacuum-pipe-adaptor-reducer.html
