I'd be putting some sort of rust treatment on that personally. The discs have taken the rust off the peaks of the pitting, but there's still rust in the pits.
Any recommendations on one that doesn't cost the earth? I might need quite a bit of it Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
Little update, progress has been slower than I hoped. Weather, Xmas preparations and other house jobs keep getting in the way. New axles are on order and should be here mid January. New coupling arrived so that was trial fitted before painting the chassis. Half the chassis has been needle scaler, cleaned and bilt hambered and I got the first coat of primer on this morning. Small victory but it feels good to have something looking more finished Plan for now is get the chassis all cleaned and painted ready for the axles arriving and then on with flooring and the rest of the massive list in the new year Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
If you mixed a spirit based paint coat and a xylene based one that could be it. Both need to be thoroughly dried out to get away with that which will take weeks if not months at this time of year outside. Nice crackle glaze finish though.
I think that's what I did. Lesson learned, new top coat will be purchased tomorrow. It definitely is a good effect though Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
I didn't quite keep this thread updated as I planned so in the 4 months or so that have gone by I have been working on the trailer. Unfortunately weather, short cold winter days and family life have all slowed progress more than I would have liked. However after this weekend we are looking a little more like a catering trailer. So far the chassis has all been cleaned, treated and painted. New axles have gone on along with new brakes and cables. A new tow hitch has been fitted. The inside has been pulled out and everything has been cleaned. A new roof and various over bits of aluminium have been installed. I have drilled out and reinstalled 100's of rivets. The floor was replaced, a metal grid being installed first to raise the wood off the chassis rails and give any water a chance to drain off. We made a frame for the hatch and finally this weekend the hatch was installed. I'm also sure I missed lots of other bits! So now on to sorting the interior and getting the exterior ready for painting towards the end of June. Still a lot to do but it feels like we've turned a corner with it Sent from my Pixel 8 using Tapatalk
