    And…….

apparently the brake drums were so gunged up and sticky that it took too long to sort them out and the MOT will be tomorrow.
I foresee another bill that is bigger than I’d hoped.
Still, if the brakes were binding that badly and we still managed to move both forwards and backwards, and at a decent pace, I’m quite excited to know what we can do now! Henry’ll be a flying machine! :D

Looks like the owner has moved the side mirror to the door from top of the front wing and left a gromit where it was .
Come to think of it you need good eye site when its that far off ...wouldn't be at all surprised if the person is about my age .
I am off to Ireland soon so don't think i will be able to view this till i get back .

    The brakes have proved troublesome.
    But...
Hallelujah, I can give the 'orrible plastic rollerskate Toyota Aygo loan car back now...
    Henry has an MOT! :)

No, but the garage is en route…. and I will use him for work on sunny days, much like I take the camper sometimes.
….On those weeks when I start counting the days til retirement, somehow a nice vehicle makes it fractionally better!

No, which was very disappointing! Not a Mr Whippy van in sight :(

Now there's an idea for Henry - traditional, authentic, home made ice-cream for sale. Who could resist:)

Finally, finally, the slightly wider pick-up wheels (4.5inches rather than 3!) have come back into stock, so Henry has some new shoes. Looks like that'll be my job for the weekend :)

I needed to replace all the tyres anyway, and the current wheels are rusty and in need of some paint or powder coat, so it seemed the logical option.

And so it rolls around again, with very little work having been done on the poor neglected Morris.... it's MOT day.

....you'd think after getting that welding done last year, and also the brakes done last year we could at least pass the blasted test.
    But No!

....damn that brake light bulb ;)
Fixed and sorted, we have a Pass!

now we just need the better weather to stick around so I can make a start on sanding and varnishing the wood.
Still, we're on the road for another year :)

Nice, I had a moggy van as one of my early car projects 30+ years ago, it was rotten as a pear and ex-rspca and I think that had hastened the demise of the van panels but it was cheap and a bit of fun. I fitted it with disc brakes from a marina using some kit from millhil that cost hundreds but just turned out to be two spacers to use the marina hub right on the minor stub axle that you could make on a lathe in 10 minutes and a pair of flame cut caliper adapter brackets with 0 instructions, and some other bits and bobs and converted it to a pickup by slicing it along the swage lines and rolling them over and tubbed it at the rear and made some internal crossmembers out of box section and a internal front cab cage & gas welded all the front panels into one piece and hinged it at the front as a steel flip front. When it was nearly finished someone pestered me to sell it and I let it go because I had the offer of a v8 powered 103e Popular, and with the new owner it never got finished. My mates used to see it at a scrapyard sitting forlorn for years.

Back in the day another popular swap besides the disc brakes and trunnion swap was the fiat 2l twin cam, someone made a kit making the conversion a bolt in weekend exercise, but now the fiat engines are rare and hard to find at a reasonable price and probably most would want to keep a traveller powered from the morris family anyway.
Also saw the gearbox rebuild, mad thing when I was at college doing vehicle engineering, we had to rebuild a moggie gearbox as part of the course to teach us how selectors and gear clusters worked! its been a while though, like... 35+ years.
