The time has come for Vinnie, our 1979 Bay Window VW campervan to move on to a new family. Vinnie has been in the family since 2014 and has never let us down however due to time constraints now we feel he is not being used enough The van has a very high specification and has always been maintained and upgraded regardless of cost. It drives absolutely superbly, engine / gearbox / clutch / brakes and steering all superb. When we first got the van we stripped out the entire interior where the whole of the floor was stripped back, holes filled and repainted. We then lined the floor with foil backed insulation and the sides with dynamat type panels which have made the interior much quiter and warmer. While at the bodyshop, new cab doors, front panel and rear arches were fitted and the lower half repainted. All required welding was carried out underneath and a new front beam fitted. VIDEO WALKROUNDS : Indicated mileage is c. 59000 however with vehicles of this age condition is more important than a number.... Good points : 1600cc engine with standard carb - rolling road tuned last year Bosch vacuum distributor with electronic ignition upgrade Leisure battery with split charging system 100w solar panel for off-grid adventures 600w pure sine wave inverter Diesel heater with remote control and thermostat Mains hook up with inbuilt charger / conditioner CSP gear change system - transforms the driving experience from the standard fit LED meters for main and leisure battery voltage MGF front seats - very comfortable Poptop with pull-out hammocks (small children) FULL SIZE double rock 'n' roll bed Fully carpeted in front Recent new headlining front and rear New custom panelling throughout Fuchs style alloys with plenty of tread left on tyres Roof rack Brand new front and cab doors fitted (VERY expensive!) All welding / rust done underneath including new front beam fitted 5 years ago New driveshafts and wheel bearings New lock set so one key for everything (except fuel filler) TAX and MOT exempt! Cheap insurance as classic Bad points : Needs 2 new door mirrors Some rust starting to appear under paint in some areas but no holes - cosmetic only Paintwork could do with refreshing with a mop Could do with a new poptop canvas but we've used the current (original) the whole time - no leaks Some surface rust underneath but 100% not a problem Van can be viewed in Faversham or Ashford
A nice bus at a fair price. You might want to get some photos up of the underside, chassis rails, outriggers etc. plus some of the engine and engine bay. Like the shirt btw. Maybe you should include it with the sale! Could be the deal maker! GLWTS.
