  1. As almost everyone, I love Split bus. But, due to the crazy high prices, I never really even thought about owning one. Really.
One day, while randomly browsing marketplaces without anything in mind (who doesn't do that?) I came across a pro seller, who had two bus projects at a "reasonnable" price. I told my wife that's the kind of budget I would spend if I wanted one.
Normal answer would have been "finish that bay first, make your bug run again and there is some stuffs to do here, too".
Not this time, she said she will help me work on it, sanding etc and the color would be Sea blue and white.
I didn't expected that answer and didn't knew what to think. It is a lot's of money for a wreck. And more bucket loads of money just for sheet metals and parts, before even thinking to paint it.
But the idea of working on it together was why I decided to buy it. I called my good buddy who is deep in the hobby, to have his advice. "Buy it,and think later".
    And here it is.
1965, US import that must have done some off roading at one point. Cut rear wheel arches and a split in half gearbox.

Lot's and lot's of welding to do, but, somehow, not that much more I did on my bay.
I still not believe it is ours. I will not do anything to it before my bay is done, but what a project we have!

Looks like a great project there!
Same year and window configuration as the split I've just started.

  3. Nothing done on this, but I ordered a birth certificate from VW Classic.
It is always nice to know what it originaly was and could help to have it registered :)

It is also amazing to know it was made in Germany, shipped to California, was last registered in Washington before being ship back to Europe, where a fool in Belgium buy it, in a advanced state of wreck, to restore it. Hopefully.
