Hey everyone I thought I would start one of these threads. The old website when she was a working camper: https://web.archive.org/web/20140516222655/http://cookincamper.co.uk/ It's always been a dream to own a camper after years as a child traveling Europe with my parents. The bus has been bought I admit a bit early but being kept under wraps from the Mrs, currently hiding at my nans, as our plan was to buy one after the wedding next year. But as already owning a beetle I though hey why not have a bus as a wedding surprise, how many people say they owned both volkswagens at there wedding Let's start with a few pics.
Cheers That's what I thought. The fella selling was a old college tutor or mine way back, so I've known him and the van for a while.
Not to sure yet, i would like it to have a nice overall next year possibly pain and fix a few rusty spots, i have got a thing for white cars so that's a possibility colour choice at the moment, apart from that interior just a tidy up maybe reupholster the bed and cushions. Took her out for a nice 40 mile round trip today, after driving a few beetle in my time i can honestly say i utterly love the type 4 motor. pulls really well and stayed uber cool, managed to pick up a under slung LPG tank for it from the original owner and the spare wheel and cover. so successful first two weeks of ownership i think
We have that very same sink/fridge unit at our shop. I have templated it for any day van units needed - very practical. Lends itself to having different tops on.
First real trip out to dubfreeze, small issue with flooding the engine before setting off but ran like a dream there and back. loved every second of it. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
She is home, finally got round to telling the mrs, went down well. So the weekend plans are full mop and polish. Fit a new wooden floor and paint the bumpers along with the top of the dash as it's looking a bit worn. 10 days off from work so a good few days of playing with the bus are in order Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Not sure if pictures do it justice, ignore the rusty bits. Gave it once over with cutting compound and a machine polisher, the red now looks red, and the well, rusty cream looks like rusty cream. On the plus side the roof now looks amazing, going to give it a full wax tomorrow just so it's got some protection going forward. Still left to do for this week is. Fit new flooring Paint the front bumper. I'm sure i will find some other odd jobs to do. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Managed to get her in the garden at last, pain having one parking space but the garden now looks like a a show camping. Anyone for a garden vw show Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
