  2. that's a bit harsh, perhaps they were a bit more trusting of the service others were supposed to provide them with

  4. I think they just bought the VIN plate, but no doubt worth it, with new shell, new engine/gearbox and so on, they should have fun doing it and make a decent profit if they don't keep it.

A work colleague back in the late 60's had a red Cooper S and a Formula 3 race car, which his kind Dad bought for him. Peter gave me a few lifts home in the Cooper S and it was a delight, fast, noisy and road hugging. Good days.

easy to restore to pretty much perfect condition, can do it in the garage at home too, engine interior etc etc, new mk 1shells complete are quite reasonable, just buy another £500 mini for the bits n bob, maybe clear £10k profit

the engine is where the money is, nobody would get rid of it, and to be honest it will probably run with a tickle

  7. How many pairs of tights would you recommend stuffing into the gearbox?

  9. This. @mgbman is always carping on about brake and fuel line safety etc. Does that mean people deserve to be engulfed in a ball of flames if they fail to check their breather hoses?

  10. Pah. Take an engine out of an old Metro, stuff it in, sell it on. Who’s to know, eh ;)?
