I must confess I love them but based on the hits. I don’t know much of their album tracks. Then again they had so many hits it’s hard not to love them. For Bjorn and Benny to write a song as spot on as The Winner Takes It All in what isn’t their native tongue speaks volumes. Mamma Mia is a fab escapist bit of nonsense (wasn’t so sold on the follow up) seen the film and on stage. What’s not to love? . I’ll have a listen to their new stuff. Not really interested in going to see holograms in concert. One of the things I admired about them was their steadfast refusal to reform
Well, I admire and enjoy 'em. They did get over played, but they quit at the top, or just after, have refused, until now, to reform, but still kept us entertained. Simply great pop songs, what's not to like?
I rather like ABBA too. I’m a little bit disappointed that their hologram faces are of their younger selves and they aren’t just having their faces as they are now. Why not? I liked it when we saw The Who at Glasto and they had footage of themselves in the 60’s in the background but I want to see people as they are now.
I suppose with cgi snd all the other clever technology, one day, we will be able to see bands/singers in concert that all died years ago.
I guess it’s different if it’s someone like Elvis who has died but I would sooner see them as they are now as they’re still alive and actually singing the sounds. it would be like Gracie Fields (when she was alive) only doing a video if it was her younger self singing a current song. A bit of a mix is fine (imho) but to just do it as a younger person seems a bit like it’s playing into a perception of youth.
I think an ABBA show was as much about the visual as it was the music. They wouldn’t be able to recreate that now.
Nail. head. To be fair it's their music. The copyright system needs updating as we all live longer cliff Richard has challenged it I believe, with streaming its a strong argument. Why should Apple music, spotyfi ect make cash from subscriptions on free license music when the artist is still alive.
