It’s old and worthless. You ought to send it me for my coin collections it will be looked after even though it’s just an old coin that’s out of circulation and not exactly in uncirculated condition.
I want to get a metal detector and hunt for treasure. Or a string magnet and trail it off the boat. I will probably just end up with a dumped push bike though.
A friend of mine took up metal detector ing about three years ago, as he did it as a teenager. He is 66 now. He started off with a detector about 300 quid. He found all the usual tat like buttons and buckles, loads of lead and bits of rusty iron, but never really found much of interest until he shelled out on a second hand detector which still cost £1500. However, he can tune it just to find precious metals. He found a non discriptive gold coin which he had to send off to get identified. Can’t remember the name of the coin but there are three of them in three different sizes. He found the middle size one ( about the same size as a 2p). That one is worth just over £6000. He shared half with the landowner but had loads of people offer him more. He has around £10,000 in silver coins found over just under 2 years, when he got his better detector. There are a couple of guys that go magnet fishing around here. One of them pulled out a German WWII MP40 machine gun, just outside of town. It’s surprising what you are walking over sometimes.
