I’m feeling rather smug as I’ve managed to do what I thought would be a noodle doodle of a job very easily!!! ;D the front anti roll bar clamp had rotted out, I remember trying to replace one on my last bay years ago and gave up in the end. this time I thought id sorted it, wind the rope around the clamp then twist with a suitable screwdriver until it pulled the open end close enough to get the clip on. great in theory. .... in practice, the rope snapped. wider rope didnt snap but also didnt get the clamp ends close enough together. lots of swearing later I had a flash of inspiration. the use of two welding clamps to gradually get the arb clamp ends closer together did the trick,... fit one tighten, fit second slightly tighter, remove first one and adjust then refit tighter. repeat until the gap is small enough to slide the retaining clip on. simples. I suppose it would work with mole grips if the jaws were far enough apart to start with. hope this makes life easier for someone....
like most things repro the kit is pure rubbish , i copied the originals but in stainless and they fitted a treat , the repro rubber and clip bits are the wrong shape size ..... i think you can buy a stainless 2 piece one that uses bolts
'Tis true...the replacement rubbers and clamps are intended, I believe, for Brazilian Bays that have a different suspension arm profile. The "U" clamps are completely the wrong shape.
started this today any other divices worth a go as i ve no welding clamps unless you mean mole grips ?
