How is it possible to make headlights on a 2019 van. Worse than the ones on my bay. How VW thought they were acceptable is beyond me. Seems to be a issue with a lot of people. Just swapped to Osram Nightbreakers and can now see. My Mrs kept checking she had turned them on.
Just drive slower , no need to be able to see 2 years into the future, just shows that headlights we’re perfectly fine for years before LED projection etc
No choice but drive slow round here. They really were awful. You did actually wonder if they were on.
I'm sure there'll be an upgrade available , only from selected VW dealers and fitted by them ... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
If you drive for the first five minutes with your eyes shut then they get accustomed to the dark really quickly and you get the fabled night vision and are thus not so reliant on the lights. You can then wear sunglasses to cut the glare from other cars. For every 10 minutes driving remember to close your eyes for 30 seconds to maintain that night vision.
The problem with the 20mph is no one knows what is 20mph and what isn’t. Marry that with the people who used to do 22mph in a 30mph now doing 12mph, even on A Roads, plus people would prefer to drive up your arse rather than overtake (so you are 6 cars back from the car being overtaken by push bikes) and journeys that took 30mins are now a good hour or more. In built up areas I get it, but this is out in the sticks too!!
Even in built up areas, 20mph is a ridiculous speed. The 20 zones in London are virtually impossible to keep to. Still, keeps Sadiq happy...
Surprisingly for a modern vehicle, they are actually easy get to. I don't know what I am doing and it only took me 15 minutes. I took the air filter housing out the way, only because I have a gammy wrist that doesn't like going round corners, plus it is 2 clips and a jubilee clip
my daily (civic) had cr ap headlights too - i tried those high power halogens and it was better but unfortunately they didn't last very long. i put some LED bulbs in and it transformed it. auxito brand, cheap off ebay - beam pattern is very good, no dazzling, and although technically mot should be an issue its passed twice now with them fitted. tester chap just checks for alignment/beam pattern and he's happy.
You just have to watch out for cheap ones as the lenses cloud up and start developing multi thin crack lines . A youth at the builders yard was telling me about how disappointed in his and wished he had podded out more . Mine are not brill but i get by and couldn't be bothered to improve them ...i just stick them on full beam when an LED glares towards me .
