Apple TV

  1. Anyone bought an Apple TV? Thinking of getting one wondered if people would recommend or not.

  2. Wait .... there is a new V3 one out soon! my brother in law has one of the current ones.

they are good but all depends what you want to get out of it

  3. Every time you look away they seem to upgrade something.

  4. I've had one for about three months and like it a lot. Basically I have it plugged into the HDMI of a TV in one room and the sound via digital audio cable into the stereo. I have a mac mini in a different room and a macbook pro with all my music on it (35k tracks). I can now easily link to any of the macs and play movies, music on the stereo/tv regardless of where they are in the house. All the devices simply need to be connected to the same home network. I can also play songs on my wife's iPhone or my iPad via airplay. Again it works really nicely.

It is a tiny little black box and pretty cheap too.

    Top stuff

I have the old style apple tv with the built in hd. Use it all the time and had it about 3 years. Especially good when you got mates over for entertainment whilst having drinks. Everyone wants the control to choose next song so you don't need to worry about what to put on yourself.

  6. I can only echo the sentiments above but also add that for showing home movies it can't be beaten. I don't bother with the movie rentals much although the quality is first rate.

  7. I've had apple tv for about a year. Sadly, I must admit I rarely use it. I occasionally stream a film from the iPad to it. Which is excellent.

There is a new actual Apple manufatured TV set coming out soon. Which I suspect will have Apple Tv built in. So you may want to wait awhile. ( the new tv is super sexy and paper thin :D) and save you ££££

  8. Hi,

I have one and I use it a lot. Mainly buy moview from iTunes and then watching them in the front room on the decent TV. I tend to buy rather than rent. The quality is very good. If you have an iPhone or an HD camcorder, it's really good for showing of your photos and movies.
