Attaching Gas Bottles to Welders

  1. At long last I've ditched the stupid little hobby bottles for a large gas cylinder and have the appropriate regulator on order with the conversion hose.

So, a logistics question. How do people move their welders around with a large gas bottle? Is the gas bottle fixed with a really long hose or is the gas bottle attached to the back of the welder some how? I've looked at those welder trolleys but they're about £50.

Any advice or help gratefully appreciated.

  2. normally the bottles strapped to a trolley with the welder on

  3. I have the small 4mm tube coming out of the welder and the proper normal size hose coming off the regulator. This I'm guessing is what you mean by a conversion hose. These are joined with a quick push fit connection. So I disconnect here and move the welder and bottle independently. I'll make myself a little trolley for both at some point....

Do make sure the bottle is secure though. I know someone who knocked one over in his workshop, it took the reg clean off the top and the bottle embedded itself in the breeze block wall on the other side of the shop!!! Strapping it to nearby shelving or similar is a good idea until you get a trolley :)
