automatic gearbox code

  1. I have a 2l automatic and the only code i can find is 310 321 105
Via google i can't find anything with this number.

Is there another code somewhere on the gearbox?
Or does someone know if this gearbox is correct for my 2l T2?

    thanks!

  2. I also have a 79 2 litre with auto. According to Haynes it should have an 010 transmission, designated NF, or later an 090 designated NE. These types are pretty much the same but superseded the 030 in 1975.

The later box had mechanical linkage and changed gear in accordance with the accelerator pedal position. Earlier it was connected to engine vacuum. I think you should have a solid bar connecting between the gear box and the carbs (that's if you have carbs) rather than a cable direct from the pedal to carbs.

Sorry I've never looked for the code on the box.

  4. Just realised we were discussing this several weeks ago. It looks like the later 010 or 090 box as it's got the lever on the side which connects to the carbs.

I had a quick grovel under and on the opposite side on the circular area is the number 010 323 529E. Maybe your number is a 010 rather than 310? However I think this will be a casting number rather than the serial number of the complete box. I imagine with further examination there will be a number stamped on, like the engine.

For me anyway this indicates an 010 box.
