as battery that was in it has no markings and was chucked in from an old car i had while ago

  2. I believe you need a 65 amp at least.

Contact GSF. They will be more helpful than Halfords.

  5. Stock battery is an 063 . Halfords are quite correct in asking for the code number as the wrong battery though correct in capacity could well have the battery terminals the opposite way round which would mean your cables wouldn't reach.

  6. brilliant thanks what does the 44ah mean

  7. 44aH is the battery capacity...roughly speaking 1Amp drain for 44hrs or 22A for 2hrs or variations of that before the battery is basicaly flat ie voltage has dropped to 10v, if I remember correctly. Its not all that common these days to use aH as a guide to capacity for an automotive battery. Its usual to refer to cold cranking performance which in the case of an 063 is 360A. The actual definition of CCP is the current in amps that can be drawn from a batteryat -18C for 30 secs before the battery cell volts drop to 1.2V / cell. Still awake after that? :))

  8. thanks fritt still awake just lol
the battery that was in it was from a diesel transit van wonder if it was why was going flat as not suitable for a camper

  9. I would expect a battery used for turning over a diesel to have more than enough capacity to deal with a small petrol engine. However if it has been standing around for any length of time unused, like any battery the plates get a sulphate coating that just kills them. If it has been having around for a while what you can try is to gently scrape the battery posts with a knife removing the grey/black surface then refit the terminal clamps. What happens is a hard oxidized skin builds up on the surface of the posts and this "skin" acts just like an insulator so sometimes what can appear as a suddenly knackered battery is just a build up of the oxide.

  10.
  11. second GSF halfrauds will charge the earth

  12. search yell.com for 'Car Accessories & Parts' and 'motor factors' in your area & make a few calls asking for an 063 car battery they'll have them in stock & probably half the price of halfords.

or search ebay for '063 battery' & pick anything from cheap to a brand named one
