I have the phenolic carb to manifold spacer but need the paper type to put either side of them. Do I need specific thickness or can I use any type. Anyone cut there own from the gasket material.
Yes. I made my own spacers (4) for my Dells and ended up needing 8 gaskets. You could make them easily enough, You'd want quite thick gasket paper. What carb is yours?
If you're using the correct phenolic spacer as the originals they're not that thick and IIRC don't need additional gaskets as they're part of the spacer.
They look like the original ones from factory about 5 ml thick and old but there's no paper on them unless it's disintegrated. Can I reuse these with a new gasket either side.
I don't see why not. or £15 a pair at Heritage for the ones I pictured. https://www.heritagepartscentre.com...for-dual-solex-carburettors.html?gad_source=1
Or if you have a manifold end spare, tapping along the edges of the holes in the manifold with a ball peen hammer through the gasket paper and a few minutes tapping will cut out an exact match in minutes. My progressive carburettor is a bit harder, that really needs a fabric working hole punch as well as the hammer. @davidoft showed me at TE one year.
