For those that need to wash their eyes out, or haven’t seen mine and might want to then wash your eyes out.
I love it, it reminds me of the animated parts in this video… Which on watching it I’ve just noticed an obvious error….at no point do they pull their goggles down during the race!
I’ve used anything that came to hand. There’s permanent marker pens, there’s posca paint pens, various graffiti things and coloured highlighters too. The Devon Poptop is painted with three or four coats of water based middle of Lidl white paint rollered on. Also it is what I used on the screen the screen repairs but it was a bit too whitey brighty so I mixed some Cuprinol Autumn fence paint in with it to calm it down a bit but I couldn’t get it without a pinky tinge so I blacked around it. The scars are hand drawn over some scratches and blemishes but I’m rubbish at drawing so I googled how to draw a scar. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,see the pinkybits
Now that was way ahead of its time and thinking right outside of the envelope and possibly into the next post code. I’m glad you’ve liked my efforts as some people like it / get it and some like my Mrs think it looks like a crazy four year old has scribbled all over it with crayons. I’m toying with the next version of it but it’s still not quite straight in my head, a bit like my Auto Stella dispenser that’s on hold too. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,thanks for ALL the likes gang.
That video was massive….but the song was very good, and looking back now you realise it was just about pre cgi when the envelope really started to be stretched. It’s a bit like this one, where the video was mesmerising but the song, it’s production more than stood up to the acclaim the video got.
Sorry in advance for the extra marmitey answer but not sure. The bulk of it was done in perhaps a day or two. But with experimenting and waiting for stuff to turn up by post then doing and undoing some stuff and then adding to it as and when I thought about it it probably went on for several months. Most of it was done free hand but I’m not that steady any more and some was done with stencils and some had masking tape and some had straight edges attached with tape but it was all just massive fun and I think the fun comes over. I’m not totally finished yet as I’m thinking along the lines of a refresh this summer but black and white is a real head scratching colour combo to work with so I’m planning on a bit of a shading exercise. And one day we might have a complete re spray again but that’s a ‘One Day’ thing and I’ll keep messing with this for a while. I changed my complete van once I’d spotted two or three others with vinyl graphics of leopard print over their bumpers as I used to have. My mates said “Dint That Pee You Off” but not really, it’s a proper compliment from fellow nutters but it also makes me want to change. Techenders is a fantastic example of how varied these vans an be from the ultra low to a tad raised and every fraction of an inch in between. There’s stock paint jobs some even original then there’s custom paints and metallics. There are panel vans and ex panel vans and standard conversion styles along with slight variations on certain themes etc etc etc. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,etc etc etc
It’s cool. Perhaps on the lower darker parts, like the sills and the corners of the wheel arches, cross hatch shading with a good thick black marker.
That was one of my ideas and intention to completely Matt black the wheels and tyres and sills to try and get a Magic Carpet type of effect . I did it in mock up with black tape etc and I didn’t get what I was trying to get and didn’t go with it in the end. But it’s all a bit of fun. Ozziedog,,,,,,,, I know I live in a weird place
The 2019 Neo Tokyo series commemorating 30 years of the manga film Akira, are going for over a grand each now. They were £99.00 on their release day. I think you will easily treble your money in say 4 years or so.
I’m liking these immensely, and I haven’t worn a watch for over a decade, just use the phone. Proper pain when driving the van anywhere that’s a bit if a distance because I completely lose track of the time and there’s no clock in the van. I might get one one day , a clock that is. Ozziedog,,,,,,,, I wouldn’t be able to decide,,,, so I’d buy both
