I hate them. Everyone's different, and they always break. Whoever designed them should be strung up. No...flogged, then strung up.
I used to dislike them as much as you, but I find if you push the connector to engage as much as you can, then the release clip disengages easier. Similar to the hozelock hose connectors
Haha…..the team that designs modern vehicle press or snap fittings that hold interior or exterior trim on refer to the connectors team as the Einsteins. Apparently there was a dictat from above that wanted them to be designed similarly to one time encryption pads from the war….used once then destroy themselves so thoroughly that they can never be used again, leaving many people very puzzled.
I hate the fact that some of them you squeeze the end to undo them and others you push a tab down on the far side of the latching bit. I can tell how many times I have had the injector power rail cable tray out on my Peugeots (to get at the left hand glow plug... ) by how many clips on the injector plugs are broken. Its why I just use small individual spade connectors on the likes of VR sensors and fuel injectors in my own projects .. Untidy but you cant break a connector body that isnt there. My favourites that actually work are the ones where you lift a lever and the entire multipole plug lifts up, and you reverse the action and the plug pulls back in. Least favourite are reaching through an aperture in a door in e.g. a Renault and having to work out what kind of connector it is and what way to pull entirely by touch while sharp metal resulting from galvanised rough punched steel sheet is gnawing at your wrists.
On the Merc I have changed numerous sensors/ relay’s The one that never goes wrong is the one that constantly tells you that you haven’t put your seatbelt on
That does appear to be the secret. Push them together to compress the seal, then press the catch and they pop apart.
