FOR SALE Damaged heated front windscreen half price

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by icepug, Jul 1, 2014.

  1. I have for sale a heated front windscreen for a late bay. I brought this to fit in my camper and after taking of the packaging tape I found that the corner has been cracked. Apart from that the screen is new and unused. I'm after £80 which is half the £160 it cost me. Most of the damage would be covered up by the gasket but you would still see some after installation. Depends how picky you are, it is on the passenger side if you have a RHD. These are the double element screens so its good quality and the screen is just to good to throw away so I thought I'd offer it on here and try to recoup some wonga. Collection from bedfordshire.

I doubt it, its laminated not toughened so at worst the break could run

I was under the impression that its not in the direct line of site so wouldn't effect the mot?

Why not just send it back and get one that's not cracked?

  8. it's going to be fun getting that in a seal. I really would be giving it them back

  9. Their telling me that I only have 24h from delivery to report a breakage and its been 3 weeks so I am not 100% sure where the blame lies.

I must add that even though the glass is broken it is still intact so its not 'wobbly' so to speak.

I would start quoting the sale of goods act. You have "a reasonable time" to reject goods damaged in transit. The responsibility for the goods remains with the retailer not the carrier.
A reasonable time is definately not 24 hours, it's usually measured in weeks.

When I've fitted windscreens I've had to really give it a wallop.
I wouldn't even try to fit that.
I'd get into the supplier again.

  14. Problem is it 'could' have happened at my factory and no one wants to own up. I don't want to get on the suppliers case with a bit of doubt in my mind.

  15. Yeah stick it right up their A) dollar signs :) B) bottoms

  16. Really? At £160.. If it got broke, I wouldn't care who else paid to replace it.. As long as it weren't me.

P.s. Also good luck with the sale.. But who would buy a smashed windscreen? Haha

    I'd skip it then.
That'll be in much worse condition once fitted.

Shouldn't necessarily be the supplier though if it could have been damage since delivery surely?

  19. I know, but if he's not gonna find out for sure who done it..
Morals aside, I'd rather have the supplier pay for it, they can claim money back from courier, and £160 is worth a slight loss of morals I reckon

  20. Also.. They might just say.. Ok 50% off a new one..
