Ummm if remember correctly (was another lifetime ago ) I replaced the whole unit (pedal, hinge, hinge pin and spring ).I am going to fit one of the butty linkage upgrades and though a decent pedal would make sense while I am at it .

If the floor isnt rotten, the stock pedal is quite stable.

Check its not just e.g. the bolts you used to fix it have let in water and promoted rot around themselves..

On my pedal, there were about 5 layers of rotten metal under the pedal when it fell over sideways so had to be helped up to slow down...

I patched the floor and welded the hinge down to the new floor to avoid making any holes in the floor.

Next time I will buy a new hinge or just fabricate one out of sheet metal.

  5. The standard pedal and hinge should be quite steady. Has something come adrift?

Reminds me it's one of those things that I have neglected and should check. I really want to know that my hinge is secure and not feeble.
Butys Bits are all spot on IMHO so hopefully your floor hinge is OK .

  7. Late late Bay linkage is quite robust, so doesn't need a Betty's Butt (which is why they don't do one).

    Exactly. Butty's only do bits.
I believe Betty's do afternoon tea.

I treated myself to a collection of M4 based rose joints off eBay and came to a fairly reasonable implementation of a double rose joint on the throttle linkage under the pedal - the M5 rose joints were too big.
It came to about £15 including bolts.
Basically just doing the replacement of the bit of bent wire with rose joints, not bothering with the rest, as it works pretty well still.

I already have a 1:1.2 step-up lever in a bell crank arrangement at the carburettor end to go from stock movement of 17mm to 25mm to suit the progressive.
