Diff Leak

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by nielsjackie, Nov 3, 2011.

  1. Hello. Our 1974 LHD Automatic (type 4 engine) late bay has an ATF leak. We think its coming from the differential. Looked online to see if you can buy a differential gasket but came up empty.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

How bad is the leak?? Best advice is clean up the gearbox and check for leaks. You may find it coming from somewhere else. Oil leaks are a pain.

If the leak isn't that bad, I'd just keep topping it up and checking the fluid until you find the right gasket or where the leak is. Checking levels is always a good thing with an auto anyway. My old Peugeot had one. Even the new box l bought for a previous 504 developed a leak. Must be a Peugeot thing :) Anyway that went on strong but l did make regular checks a priority.
