  1. IMG_1406.jpeg IMG_1403.jpeg IMG_1405.jpeg IMG_1400.jpeg Hi.
Dont know if anyone has ever encountered this while buying online.
Couple of weeks ago, I was in the market for a new pair of training shoes, so looked at reviews of the ON cloud series. Saw a few pairs online retailing from £120+ right up to £170.
Went on fleabay and found identical pairs for under £50.00.
Bought a pair and wondered why they were so cheap, so looked on YouTube to find a bloke on there comparing these (the ones I bought) to a ‘real’ pair. The only real difference are the insoles. The originals are perforated, but the materials and shoe construction look identical.
How can the Chinese make such good copies, or how can ON make them so expensive?
A pair of Scholl footbeds in them, and they are great!
Anyone else have this experience? I know I have before, with a cheap Chinese diesel heater, compared to the German espacher heaters. Exactly the same, but the casting is slightly rougher.
I complained about the shoes to the seller, so they gave me a full refund, but also, a week or two later, sent me back the shoes! ( second image, price is £47)

They tend to use the same factory

I bought a fishing bivvy a couple of years ago and the only difference was the label of a well known company was missing.
Turns out it came form the same factory probably the same production line

  3. I had a fake Rolex that a friend brought back from Singapore, apparently there are cheap ones for tourists and more expensive ones for potential fraud. It passed most of the tests for spotting a fake, however I killed it while coupling a steam loco to a train - not shockproof then.

  4. Yes. I have a few Gold subbies knocking around with miyota 8325 movements in. Looks the part, are waterproof, but I’m not sure about the shock worth proofness of Rolex anyway, tbh.

  5. I thought this post was about when @Barry Haynes has his wig, sorry, hairpiece on!!!!

  6. The difference in cost firstly is due to the amount the original (real) company has put into R+D, advertising etc, whereas the fake company only has to tear apart the product and copy it. The materials won't be the same quality, but I've had a number of fake items which, on the whole, have been OK. Sizing is often the issue, I've had experience of fake Ugg boots, where a supposed size 3 adult is more like a 5, t shirts where XXXL would only fit around a 42inch chest etc etc.

We all know that 50% of the RRP is for the "Brand" - but then, you could have bought a cheaper van to sleep in couldn't you? Everything finds its level, its worth exactly as much as people are willing to pay.

  7. The sizing is pretty much spot on, The irony is that I went to JD sport down the road in Trowbridge, and tried on a ‘real’ pair, and tbh, the shoes felt pretty much Identical. ( as they refunded me AND gave me the shoes for free, I put another sixty quid with it and copped me a pair of triple white Air Force 1’s, ‘cos they is fire, innit bruv. ) ;)

  8. I certainly wouldn't suggest putting the fakes in the real box and taking them back to JD for a refund....

  9. No. I’m keeping them, as I’m starting cross fit classes in a few months.

  10. I have come across lots of counterfeit products in cycling.
Chains. Shimano high end chains are a really commonly faked product. the packaging is very convincing. So, now I do not but any so called branded parts on Ebay. Especially if it has the word "genuine" in the description. Fortunately Ebay refunded my Ultegra chain and I reported the seller. The other one is brake pads. Lots of fake Shimano brake pads out there. You have to really check the packaging and the feedback for the seller. Another flag is location of the seller. The location LONDON is a really common warning sign.

  11. I wore a fake Rolex for years, and it was really good

Difference is that the fake ones have a Japanese quartz movement, rather than being mechanical, like the real ones.

I find that chickens in the UK supermarkets have a similar sizing issue , what is now labelled as "extra large chicken" less than a year ago were labelled "medium chicken" and were almost three pounds cheaper

  20. I find a quick flick of the wrist, to find out the time, is quicker and easier, than stopping what I am doing, getting my phone out of my pocket, unlock it or whatever, in most situations I find myself in. Do you not?
