  1. Hi - This is basic - sorry. Is it ok to jack the van up to do an oil change - make access a bit easier.

Like I said, sorry I know this is is basic....

    Thanks all

The more level the bottom of the engine is, the more oil will come out. You could (and I did when I had a silly lowered one) jack it up, undo the drain plug and let it back down while the oil drained, then jack it back up to put the plug back in. If it's not lowered you shouldn't really need to jack it up.

For a 1600, is there a drain plug in the centre of the sump plate? Or just the 6 x M6 nuts?

  5. Yes, there's a centre drain plug. Hadn't thought of jacking then lowering. I'm prob over thinking and can do it without jacking. No it's not lowered. Thanks for the advice I'll have a crack this weekend.

  6. Bit of a grovel, but should go fine without jacking. The big round oil catch tub things are good.

If its windy, make sure the catch tub is reasonably large, or as the final trickle of oil comes out, it will blow away sideways and miss the tub..

Don’t forget to put the drain plug in before you refill.

Move the pan of oil away straight away as you will kick it over
