Evening all, just found out that the 3way fridge in my westfalia Helsinki is in fact just gas which is a bit of a disappointment! So I'm looking into buying another, I don't really want to run it on gas so can I just get a 2 way? Which I assume is just 12v or 240v? Looking at various things on tinternet but my van is away having leisure battery wiring done so don't have access to measuring the hole the fridge goes in, could anyone help me with some dimensions please? Also any recommendations on make and model you guys use would be handy too, thanks Dan
Gas is what i use most, you can only use 12volt when driving or your batterys will die. 240volt you need hook up.
The plan is to get the fridge nice and cold for a few days before we set off using a hook up lead at home then 12v just while travelling then plug into hook up at every campsite to ensure cold beers ;D oh and milk and butter too! :-[
Gas will get it cold enuff we make ice with ours. get stuff cold in your fridge then put it in, get cool box for beers fridge wont take many ;D
Any idea which waeco model? I will be redoing the interior next year and would like to keep the fridge so getting the right one now would be good ;D
Built in with front opening door, it's side on as you open the sliding door at the moment but when I redo the interior it will be facing you as you open the sliding door
Does anyone have the dimensions of the space the fridge slots into in a westie helsinki? It's the one that sits under the sink with a drawer above it, thanks
this type of thing http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=Waeco+compressor+fridge&_sacat=0
waeco is king!! either a cr50 or 65 for fridge models or the coolomatic's (i think) for coolbox's, they keep warm and keep hot. very good. All 12vand low ampage so good for leisure and stick a c-tec in for 240v.
The waeco cr50's look great, bit pricey though not sure the current wife will be too happy with an unplanned extra £440 before hols!
I bought one of these, same compressor as a Waeco but the dimensions suited my plans better - it will fit in a narrower unit. http://www.vitrifrigofridges.co.uk/c39ifridge.htm
just keep looking around ours cost under £300 because there was a small dent on the side, where you can't see it because it's built in
