Front Beam bump stops

  1. So, the beam is off of the van and minus all the trailings arms, spindles etc ready to be cut and 2 new CSP adjusters welded in.

Question is - if I am only going to lower the front by 50mm - 60mm do I need to cut the bumpstop brackets of witha grinder or will they be OK in situ?

  2. I had to cut mine off after the beam was back in as I thought it would be ok. Obviously easier with the beam out but fairly easy with it all back in
    Just lop em off

  3. I've not got them on mine , cut them off :)

  4. if your only lowering by 60mm why on earth would you cut them off ??? if they come close which they won`t just remove the rubber

  5. Because once the van has been tickled with the lowering stick it will never be low enough so get the stops off now. Just mind your head on the sliding door frame :)

  6.
  7. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

  8. Thanks guys - consensus seems to be chop 'em off if you're going real low, or if not keep them but swap th stops around.

    Good advice as always.

  9. my mates got a low early on about 55 section tyres and that still has bump stop arms on the beam and rides ok with no bottoming out, but when he first did it there was a knocking from the front he tried triming the thinner bottom bumpstops for more travel then removing the bumpstop compleatly and he still couldnt stop the knock so he was going to cut off the arms i went round to give him a hand and found the little casting lump on the lower arm where the roll bar mounts was touching the bump stop arm nipped that of with the grinder and it was sorted

  10. Thanks 13WindowDeluxe - top tip - I shall watch out for that when it all goes back together.
