It’s actually the quietest place to be, right next to a speaker…Just the bass goes through you.

 

Was next to the bass at this gig... Shook the ribcage..

 

I went to a festival we had just outside of Frome once, and I was in ‘crowd control’, (I.e yellow vest on, stood behind the barriers next to the speakers).
Ozric Tentacles were playing and although it was really loud, I found being right next to the main speaker, it seems quiet. Was that because the sound never had room to resonate? Yes, the I could feel the bass going through me, but it just didn’t seem loud.

 

I was there in the crowd it was good for a couple of years until those kids got killed in the car on the bypass

Working at Glastonbury we were always told best place was next to the speaker mind you it’s comes with other hazards

Yes. I worked on the sonic stage for two years in a row, never went deaf. Loved it, too.

 

You ever lent against one at a gig? Like ALL of your body? Feels like you are being liquified. Quiet though.
