I have taken my 73 bay window to a vw aircooled specialist to look at the ignition fault I seem to have( sometimes it starts first time, and sometimes it wont start atal, unless i put it into gear & take my foot off the clutch before turning on) The garage cant find a fault with anything, so looks like im going to have to deal with it unless anyone else has any recommendations...
Putting my clutch down & in gear? I tried putting my clutch down, then putting it into 1st take my foot off the clutch & then it seems to start
sit down ....press clutch down ....then turn key ........no gear knob touching !looooool....this takes a load of the starter ,makes a engine turn over a lil bit easier
no worries bruv ,maybe theres sumthing else wrong ,if you gotta keep doing the clutch down thing .......
Just picked it up from the garage & it started first time.... just my luck ! I guess it's less expense but i'd prefer the solution to be fixed!! I'll drive it around this weekend & see what happens! Cheers again mate
i had an issue a few years ago where i could only get it to start after playing with the handbrake , Turned out hand brake had rubbed though a cable and was grounding out ,
