I got all excited when I clicked on this thread 'cos I thought it was a "How To". :(

  3. ^^ so did I ;D

.......from memory from when I took mine out. Those little clips are for holding the sides of the headliner in place.

I think there was a bit of glue in there too.

I was intending to pull the lining tight in all directions and hold with clamps after fitting the rear of the headlining in place. Then a bit at a time tuck the sides under the clips. Using a plastic or soft face hammer I was then going to bang the clips 'shut' through the head lining to tighten and hold the head lining in place. working towards the front of the bus as I go.

A bit of heat would probably help to soften the headlining to make it a bit more supple

  4. what i've done in the past is fit the bows into the liner, fit the liner into the van loosely, bull dog clip around the window edges and square up the liner, once its square glue liner around screen and then refit the windscreen. once the screens in pull tension towards the back and go from the front to the back clipping in and pulling the tension as you go. to get the liner in the grips fold the liner round a filler spreader and push it up then once its all in tight squeeze it down with the palm of the hand

  5. just find an upholsterer to do it and you will get a top job without the stress

  8. Slow and steady especialy in the corners above the windscreen, a runkle there is very visible and be careful how you apply the adhesive. Perforated lining attracts dobs of glue and once on it won't come off so only apply when you are absolutely certain of the fit. Good luck :)

  9. Is "runckle" an old Kentish word :)?

  10. I thought this was gonna be a how to too, I dont know how to fit a headliner, but i would like to as i've got to do mine soon so if you could do a bit of a write up after you've done it I would very much appreciate it ;)

  11. i fitted mine ,just take your time and do it on a warm day,use a hot air gun (carefully)then as the headliner cools it will get tighter.
dubmonkie ,the grips behind the interior light are only used if tou are only fitting a cab only headliner and are only present in panel vans, you have a panel right?

some pics of my headliner install are here (invest in some bulldog clips)
