Instrument cluster clips

  1. I've had enough of the piece of plastic and separate piece of metal that the instrument cluster are attached to to stop it falling out. Spent nearly half an hour today trying to locate one screw into a small metal bar that braces the cluster against the bash, with one hand painfully contorted through a mass of wires, etc. So it's time to bite the bullet and buy some proper clips. The descriptions all say suitable for 1973 -79 models. Mine is a '73, but the cluster is almost certainly earlier. Is there any reason that the clips wouldn't fit, and function properly, on a cluster, potentially from an EB?

  2. They’re different

  3. Thanks, I'll try to clarify the date of the cluster, or the plastic facia, before buying the clips. Would the EB dials, metal housing the odo, etc., fit in a >73 plastic facia? or if one was from an early, then both would?

  4. Don`t know ... lates had clips and earlies used a bar . I can supply late clips and screws but can`t guarantee they`d fit your set up !!

The facia is the same. Earlies had two vertical bars as part of the dash that the facia screwed onto - no clips.
Lates lost those bars and used clips instead.
There is only one type of clip.
