Instrument cluster fixings...... or lack of

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by z4alfie, Nov 7, 2011.

  1. Ive searched the topics for an answer on this but have had no joy so hoping someone can assist.

I'm in the process of refitting the instrument cluster to my 78 Bay and after successfully matching all the spade connectors to the corresponding clocks and fitting the (very short) speedo cable, I opened my specially purchased bag of stainless screws to fix the cluster into place and find there is absolutely nowt there to screw them into. Whats missing? what should be there? Help appreciated. Thanks

  2. There should be four clamping clips that the screws screw into. These clamp against the hole in the dash.

    Have you lost them?

  3. There should be 4 clips (one in each corner) which sit behind the cluster - the screws screw into these.

  4. whoops double post!

  6. Thanks for the swift response, looks like they're missing. The bodyshop took out the dash to fit the new dash top after it was repainted. They've probably lost them. Anyone know if they're available to buy? Thanks

the proper clips are ten times better than speed clips, i would go for them off lhu1281 for a tenner, saves lots off messing about
