    Hi Guys
Does anyone use their bus for work?
My double cab insurance is up for renewal it was for social domestic & pleasure JK insurance £188 a year included breakdown and other bits.
But I want to use her as my daily and for work. I've just had a quote from JK that has business use included they've quoted me £1018.00
They won't let me put commuting because I don't travel to the same place every day.
Anyone know of an insurer that does classic business policy?

  3. That might be a tricky one. Plenty of companies will do biz insurance...but a 40 year old "classic" van will likely confuse them.

  5. What I meant was...they don't understand what it is. Transit, yes, here's your quote. Bay window...what's that?

Having said that, there's a tiler round our way who uses a Splittie pickup for work, so must be possible.

The cheap classic insurance we all use demands that we have a "proper" car as well. There's a built in assumption that we don't use them much. Once you stray away from that it's like insuring any vehicle. That's the general picture.

However, if you can get your "agent" to talk to the underwriter these things can be got around. I asked mine what happens if I sell my proper car during the camper insurance term - is my insurance now invalid? They said no and I had them make a note of that in my records and sold my car. When it came to renewing they said as I didn't have a proper car too they couldn't offer the classic insurance. I pointed out that nothing had changed and they had insured it as a limited mileage only vehicle since I sold the car. They had a discussion with the underwriter and waived the second car bit and I've been insuring it like that for the past 6-7-8 years. For the first few I made them check they knew it was my only vehicle and they did know - note from the underwriter, highly unusual but good enough.

You need to find an agent who will put in a bit of effort on your behalf. IIRC mine is through Cherished, but don't quote me.

By contrast I’ve just renewed my double cab insurance with Adrian Flux.

Fully comp, SDP only with my 24 year old daughter as a namer driver.

    £200.64

Doesn’t help your quest for business cover, but your non business quote is certainly good.

I don't know if it helps, but for the past few years I've been using an insurance broker.
I get a much better price for my work van, cars and motorcycles with them doing all the hard work!
They came up with the best price for my Triumph GT6 but I can't comment on Bay insurance as it's still on the rollover jig untouched for the last 18 months!

Trade insurance can be good. I insured me and my ex to drive golf, two buses and a beetle for about the same as just the golf.

I spoke to Adrian Flux today about a mistake on my new policy the guy who did my quote had made a mistake putting that an accident I had last August was my fault and it wasn't.
I had to send them the letter stating non fault and they have refunded me £356.80 woohoo
