  1. hi guys just fitted a leisure battery and split charger with battery monitor , problem is that it chargers both batteries but doesn t seem to able to charge either enough so when i park up both batteries are low and van won t turn over , when i disconect the leisure battery the main battery charges fine and engine turns over fine

the engine is a 1600 single port could it be the dynamo/alternator the can t cope with the extra battery

    anyone else had this problem
and is there a solution ?

    help welcomed

  2. does the split charger have a swith for main battery on it or does it just keep charging both. i used a split relay.
but found my leisure battery was flat. as the main battery could be on the way out plus the belt looks a tad slack.

Thats one fancy bit of kit and a bit over the top

A problem could be that it will only switch to charge the leisure battery when the main battery is fully charged so if you are running a dynamo it will struggle.

As the unit has the voltage display run it up and see what its reading

If you post a picture of the connectors on the alternator/dynamo we can confirm what you type you have

Job done then should work no problem with a bit more power

Where did you take the trigger voltage from for the split charger?
