lining a poptop

  1. Right we've only stayed in our van a few times and granted all of them in the cooler seasons but come morning we get woken up with drips on our head. I know you get condensation on all roofs but some are lined which obviously stop this to a degree. Mines a danbury roof and is just fiberglass inside with no form of insulation. I've thought about making wooden battens and then lining with thin board and material which is what i did with my old tin top.
Has anybody else done anything to overcome this problem?

  2. i used the bubble wrap and tin foil type of insulation, glued to the under side of the roof with a layer of carpet over the top

even with 4 of us sleeping in there never had any condensation drips

  6. I lined mine last year. I used polystyrene sheet...

Then put some hardboard over that...

    Then covered that in carpet....

  7. cheers guys some good ideas, liking the polystyrene idea. Im gonna have a play this weekend. I'll keep yu posted with what i come up with ;)

  8. Top stuff! I did my Devon roof a while back with polystyrene with hardboard over the top (plus carpet), but it's sagging.

The cross battens look like a good idea.

  11. A friend of mine used Selotex in his roof and tried to burn it before fitting...no major probs...Im led to believe though polystyrene does give of very toxic fumes in the event of a fire plus they can accelerate the fire spread...I know your not going to be inside and your not going to be cooking marshmellows but it was just a thought. :)

  12. A thought worth thinking about. Is is looking like Centex is the best option. I'm going to pop into wicked today and have a look at this stuff.

  13. Anyone tried this on a westy roof?
