Lost my rag

  1. It was next to the battery next time I checked the oil it had gone. My worry is its been blown round and inhaled by the fan and could be blocking air flow, is this likely or am I being paranoid? It was handkerchief sized cotton. I've driven 500 miles to the Loire valley, I need to go for a test drive later, and do the test with seeing if the dipstick is too hot to hold.

  2. if its type 4 and you've no fan guard it will get sucked up there and onto the top of your oil cooler where it will surely block the air and make your van overheat.

    Or it fell out somewhere
    :)

  3. Should have said its a type 1, had feel round the fan housing nothing there, hopefully the rag just fell out somewhere, because i am a long way from home i was worried

  4. Stick the ignition keys in your pocket and feel around and inside the fan. If it's not there, it's not there.

  5.
  6. where is it going to fall out ?

the engine bay should be sealed with the only vents being the top and i can't see it being blown up there

  7. It was a long day yesterday, i may have misplaced it. Thinking this through if it went in the fan it would have jammed it and I would hear something, going to have a feel around and drive tomorrow, today I am drinking and relaxing[IMG]

  8. nice house, is it yours ? wisteria my favourite colour climber... 8)

ow nice van as well ,I have seen objects been sucked in but mainly light stuff paper tissues/mars bar wrappers ,leaves etc...

  9. i think you d here it if it had been sucked in
I’ve lost things in the fan before like paper paper towel ,engine foam etc (i know but sometimes you just need to learn  )
you need to feel for the blades of the fan because it sucks any blockages flat to the blades

  10. I lost my best silk cravat into the fan once. I got the chauffeur to remove it.

  11. Found the rag in the fan. That means running hot for the last 200 miles.
Not my house, where we are staying its near Gennes on the Loire
    Thanks for all the advice

  12.
  13. Used some oil getting here, probably used more running hot. Topped up before going for a run, itsgoing well
