Name that grommet

  1. Been removing the old carb system today for an upgrade. Found a bunch of cheese screws, a linkage bushing from 1995 and this grommet:

  3. For those who are interested in the Genuine VW bushing here it is. Did they always wear unevenly? 20200807_190053.jpg

    Engine/gearbox tin, next to the block rhs I think for a cable to starter from...alternator?

    Yes. Grease would help.
     
  6. Even the copper replacement is showing wear including on the rear face.
     
  7. ooooh i know that one the grommit is the type 4 engine rear fire wall that the copper fuel pipe passes through. :)

    got one off ebay - looks like no more!

  14. That's the one but I have a regular flexible fuel hose going through it. Did some earlier models have metal pipes?
     
  15. Dunno I just thought metal through it was safer than rubber ?? When I changed all the hoses a few years ago

  16. Not that I recall just a short rubber hose off the fuel pump to the T piece.
     
  17. I checked this morning and it has already been replaced. Was it me? Who knows.
