Hello folks. I've at last been able to download photos of my bus, known as Goldie. Only took me about 6 months to work out how to do it! I hope you like her. She's one mighty solid bus. My pride and joy! These photos show how she was when she still lived in Australia. They were taken in August 2010, just before I shipped her to the UK. I registered and MOTd her here in January 2011, afterwhich began the restoration process. I wanted to build a bus which'll easily last for another 30 years. Obviously there was no welding or panels required. She's undergoing a full interior and exterior repaint (including engine bay etc), all in original Marino Yellow colour, before being fitted with a Subaru 2.5 flat four engine conversion (sorry purists but I couldn't resist) new Westfalia rear-hinge roof (exact replica but using modern materials), and new Westfalia Helsinki interior (again an exact 'modern' replica), with Porsche 924 front seats re-covered in the same Westfalia plaid (chrome yellow) material to match the back and nice black 'weld-design' door panels all round. She'll be kept riding at stock height looking as original as possible (I think she sits a little higher than standard right now - I'll fix this next month). A set of nice replica Fuchs alloys will be the only thing from the outside that'll look different from stock when she's finished. I hope to have all the work completed by December 2011. Most of the repaint work is being carried out by professionals as will the Scooby conversion.
Wow what a fabulous project. How far into the project have you got so far. Please make sure you keep popping pics on to update us with your progress. I'm looking forward to seeing the westy roof as we would like to go down the same route assuming we don't get rid of 'Delilah'.
Thats one solid looking bus there mate, as Delilah says keep us updated with the work as it progresses, I look forward to seeing the modern take on the westy bit
Checked out your photos after valid point on 'sand pit' thread. Looking forward to seeing the progress. My van is of Aussie origin too but was already resprayed but not fully fitted when I first saw it so I haven't got a record like this, which I envy you.
She was a Transporter factory fitted with windows from new. For 30 years she was an egg delivery van (or some sort of food delivery van, I forget sometimes) before the owner retired almost 2 years ago.
