Porsche teledials

  1. Hello all….I wonder if you good folk could help and advise on the following?
I’m wanting to fit Porsche teledials to my late bay westfaila.
I have a 3” narrowed adjustable beam and will be fitting dropped spindles. The rear looks like it may have been lowered at some point.
The wheels on it at the moment are standard. The ones to go on are 15”7j 5x130 with et of 52 I believe. what adapters do I need and where to get them? Also what tyres would you run?
    Thanks for any info

  3. ET 52 is not a good fitment for a bay but it means you can use some adapters say 25mm thick to get you to et27 which should work ok on the rear for a 7” wide wheel. Front ideally needs et closer to stock et39 so does not give you much space for adapters unfortunately. Would the bay studs protrude too far through the adapter and conflict with the wheel? Possibly.. so you may need to cut down the stud, and get a 5x130 spare?

your other option would be to use Porsche hubs on the front 5x130 pcd and get some 5x130 rear drums with longer studs then just add some slip on spacers to get the wheel sitting where you need.

Tyres - for a 7” wide rim you should be able to fit 185 up to 205 without problems. Rear needs to match the rolling radius of the stock tyre so you don’t mess your gearing up. Fronts can be a lower profile if needed to get some more clearance however this will make your speedo read wrong. Need to be sure to get a tyre with the necessary load rating for a heavy bay obviously - not impossible but will reduce your tyre choice.

  4. It’s sounding like i may need it!

  5. Thanks for all this info….it sounds doable, but a lot more work than i first thought!

I've got the 6 x 15 teledials fitted using H&R adapters. The wheels are et52 and with the 15mm adapters, brings the offset to pretty much the same as original give or take a millimeter

  8. Never really liked spacers but those look really well made/engineered plus you don`t have any center cap issues . I went 944 front and rear

The adapters are well designed and made. It comes with the correct taper seat nuts which centralises the adapter then the porsche wheels centralise on the spigot. Here's a pic of the adapter fitted which at first glance you might think there's not enough thread in the nuts but it satisfies the fitting instructions and being German designed they must be right :p

It's advisable to get a porsche spare too as it could be tricky undoing the front adapter nuts with the van in the air. Rear wouldn't be too bad with the handbrake to assist

  11. That’s interesting! Thanks. I wonder if It’s the 7” wheels that are going to make it difficult? Should I look at getting two 6” rims for the front?

  12. Nice! Do you think the same would work for mine?

With the same off-set wheel, and an inch wider rim, it will just mean you will have an extra half inch sticking into the arch and an extra half inch sticking out than mine. I'm on steels at the moment and the teledials are in storage while I try to finish fitting a servo 6 years ago which turned into a mini restoration!! This year, I keep telling myself, it'll be back on the road!!

Sorry, posted the last message without finishing. I meant that I can't measure off mine if the wider rim would foul anywhere or not as my alloys are not on the van at the moment. I had no issues with mine at standard height with 195 width tyres.

  15. …6 years! Mines going to need bodywork soon….just reluctant to poke it about too much, as I know it will be off the road for a good amount of time too ‍♂️
Thanks for the help with this…once I’ve got my dropped spindles fitted, I’ll look at getting the adapters purchased. Bloody expensive hobby isn’t it!
    Where are you based?
