I want to block off the preheat pipe hole in the tinware as it seems to be redundant with the twin FRDs. Is there a neat way of filling this hole without taking the tinware off, welding it up and repainting it? I see from a quick search of the the forum that @snotty used an aluminium plate. Any other suggestions ? Any pictures?

    I use a rubber grommet
can’t remember the size I just measured it and ebay came up trump

  3. I covered my heat exchanger output holes with aluminium foil folded over to make it thick and then clamped with a jubilee clip. Looked tidy enough.

Yes, it's about 52mm. Wasn't sure a rubber grommet would survive as it looks close to the exhaust.

  5. I did, Sir. Clipped a plate out of ally with a tab on one side so it can attach to one of the tinware screws. Works fine.

If that's the one that is a 70mm dia hole, a baked been tin lid fits perfect, spray and stick.

I cut up an old ally number plate for the beetle engine. Self tappered on and sprayed black.
