Lots of soap and 85% in but one section won’t push in? Do I need to push harder? Screen is quite high up! Need to close around 8mm? what to do?
I would think if the other side is in it wont go now. They sort of need to go in equally. I had a ratchet strap round mine hooked on the seat runners, The strap was so tight you could have played a tune on. Its easier with 2 people, 1 outside bashing and the other pulling the cord.
If that is the top, maybe start at the bottom? I have always done the top last. Never done a curved bay, but done 1303 many times
Heated garage - did use cord but would close the last foot and pulled out - didnt think strap was thinking nylon face clamp as its so hard to push at top?
I think you need to work from the edge into the middle. Two people needed. One outside bashing and the other inside pulling on cord.
Can I just run the cord at the top or does the window have to come out? That is after I removed the near side upper part which is in place? Was thinking of using a ratchet high on the screen using pillar to push in?
One suggestion I was given that worked a bit better, or well enough to get the window in was to start at the top instead of the bottom. And I used a strap round the window pushing on a pile of jackets between it and the glass to allow adjusting where to apply pressure , and I hauled it down against the seat belt stalk attachment points using a "spanish windlass" putting a stick at 90 degrees to the loop through a loop of rope and twisting the stick round and round, shortening the rope. .. Basically the bottom edge of my window surround has been repaired (needs doing again). Whoever did it, made it maybe 1 or 2mm higher than before and that was enough to cause grief. The first time it was impossible until I removed all of the filler I had put in to create a nice finish and profile to the aperture, and I ended up with painted metal, which is one reason it rotted again.
That screen is too far in at the bottom, take it out and start again, you need to get it evenly in top and bottom, Don’t start pulling cords until the rubber is touching the metal lip at least in the middle top and bottom!
Also, I find it helps to put loops in the sides, as well as top and bottom. Gives you more options for pulling it in evenly.
Oh, and lay off the lube, as it tends to make the bottom slip out while you are banging the top in, and vice versa
No chance trying to start at the edge, you have to start at the middle top and bottom together and work your way outwards evenly left/right, 'tis the only way.
Yeah, bad description I spose. I mean you want to start middle and work way round so you finish middle you want corner edges in first not last.
That doesn't make sense either! lol You really must get both top and bottom in the centre started first/together. The last bit in is the sides. Any other way ends in getting nowhere fast, I've done a lot of these as you can imagine.
