Pictures dont do it justice I think they are a couple of years old and took them before it opened properly.

Basic and totally laid back campsite just a field a few loos and a shower made up of old bits of wood and thats it....Great

Never get board of watching the steams train go past and you have to wave by law! the station is at the end of the campsite and Corfe Castle village is about 1+ mile walk or short train journey

    8/10

Cant recommend this enough they have done so much to this place since we started going there 10yrs ago!

Basically £10 pppn free showers, compostable toilets, snack shack (cheap), steam trains just yards away from your van.

No rules rules rules! just common sense and a bit of respect

Looks like a good alternative to Woodyhide that can get a bit busy

There are alternatives like Burnbake , Nordens farm locally

  5. I’ve stayed there a few years ago. They used to have a pizza shack too iirc. Nice site. Woodyhide is good too

We regularly camp along there, not sure if it’s that site or the next one along. We’d have the top corner all to ourselves for a dozen to twenty family bash most years. We are off somewhere different this year though apparently. At the campsite we’ve used, you could quite often wake up first thing to see that Corfe Castle has been stolen again, then gradually the mist lifts and there it is and another steam train wanders past right down the bottom. This is also the campsite where a few years back, there was a named storm threatening early next morning so I guyed everything down extra special on the windward side to counter it. Storm came and went out to land early in the morning and I remember waking and looking out the window and my gazebo was shrugging off the storm so I went back to my Stella induced haze / sleep. Woke up a couple of hours later and there’s someone banging on my van door so I looked out the window again and the storm had gone inland then turned on its heel and was heading off back out to sea. This was fine but it was taking rather large parts of my gazebo with it. The tapping was my gazebo saying ta ta and sianara Ozziedog.

  9. We spent many an afternoon travelling between Norden and Swanage when our boys were young, an easy day out when we had a caravan in Wareham Forest.

Still love the area and would ideally retire there at some point.

Had to go get my phone out as I didn't feel the need to wait for three weeks while I work out how to get photos from my android phone to my iPad.

Heres us at that site years back.

Trying my absolute hardest because the gang all tell me it’s got such a great feel to it. I do quite a few shows but for me the best bit is just like that picture above with friends and family just sliding a Stella or two, joshin about, and maybe a tune or two. I’m in absolute heaven when anybody gets a guitar out around the fire, I might even slow up on them sliders for a while to listen. Very occasionally I’ll hit a verse or two from the Worzels especially my favourite which is farmer Bills cowman, not for the faint hearted I’ll tell ya. I believe it’s the first weekend in August. Do I have to check in anywhere to say I’d like to go ? Not too sure how it goes down as I’ve never been, but this year I’ve got a better than 60/40 chance of making it.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,sounds great, it sure does :)
