Just looking for a bit of guidance on fitting a proper three-point harness, preferably inertia reel, in the back. I've had a look at look at other threads here but I'm still a bit confused. At least one thread mentions Kombis having captive nuts below the windows specifically so belts could be mounted. Being a technical novice, I've no idea what a captive nut is. Is this it? If it is, is it simply a matter of the belt assembly screwing into that then attaching to the existing lapbelt mounts under the bench, or is there more to it than that? Just doesn't seem particularly sturdy given the loads it could potentially have to deal with.
yes thats it, its reinforced and is welded in at the factory and a proper seatbelt anchorage therefore more than good enough to mount a seatbelt to, the oonly issue is they are a little low down to get over the shoulder
I believe these are the correct ones (correct me if I'm wrong someone) --> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260809615380?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Half the price of your known online VW retailers..
Brilliant. Thanks guys, and thanks for the ebay link. It's mainly to allow us to put a child seat in the back, so hopefully the shoulder height issue shouldn't be too bad.
I fitted a rear one from JK I think I needed an extension strap to make it reach round the rear facing seat, but it just reaches without the strap. On a normal seat.
I bought my front belts from the securon seller on ebay but contacted them direct and they were very helpfull and knocked a few quid of the ebay price Its worth calling them about the rears
