Not having much luck fitting my rear bumper that I got from vw heritage. The bumper irons I got don't fit, plus the rear has been modded by previous owner when doing the restore. No where for irons to locate and the rear quarter panels stick out about 5mm to far at the bottom. Apparently remade rear quarter panels need to be squashed a bit when installing. Will now need to get my bumper shaved a bit !! Anyway what I need is bumper irons for the 1972 model (cross over). Any help appreciated in pointing me in the right direction. Simon
ive got a crossover model as well....you have to order pre 71 bits i fink for bumpers....mine just bolt up under the back with long bolts...for some reason the previous previous owner welded them on ...which i had to break to remove em ....if you want ill send a pic when its daylight tomoz......so you know where to bolt em to and which iron you need ...??????also i sweas they bolt into the chassis frame ,but dont relie on my memory its crap looool
Cheers for the quick reply. Some pics would be great. Bus is now at autotechnics for engine work, so hoping to get the bumper done at the same time. The brackets on the back of the bumper do not line up with the chassis frame, so I know they need to be cut off and bolts through the bumper used. The guys told me I need to get hold of cross over irons. Any detail on what I need would be great.
