Ever seen one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vw-camper-van-wesfalia-bay-window-/160663031272?pt=UK_Campers_Caravans_Motorhomes&hash=item2568434de8 It seems to have right hand drive, but import doors etc and the slider on the right hand drive. Reckon its converted? Or something else....
All the buses I've ever seen like that have been LHD - RHD conversions. All the Danbury Brazil buses are like that. So it wouldn't surprise me if that one's also a conversion.
A bus could be ordered with that configuration. Likewise LHD with left hand sliding door. There is an m code.
Dunno about this one but postal vans from at least one of the Scandinavian countries specified with RHD and right hand slider so the driver could alight onto the kerb I believe.
You'll be amazed at what and how you could order your bus like. It's like UK buses being ordered as LHD like Mike4's. The M code states Ramsgate Tourist.
I might be getting confused with lhd and Left hand slider in a right hand drive country but you get the gist. There are reasons for doing this!
Why would the first owner have ordered an RHD with the slider on the right? I can't think of any logical explanation. Anyway, I just don't believe that VW would have ever offered it as an optional extra. It must be an RHD conversion.
It was a special order option from VW. S code 753: sliding door right instead of left (RHD vehicles).
Chug Chug was one:- http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=1430.0 I discovered thought that it was converted to RHD when it came in to the UK in 1981. Whoever done it did a top job.
