Does anyone have any experience with shipping items to Australia? I've a customer that's interested in some covers for their RnR bed but would need them shipping down under. An initial look at quotes suggests it might be an expensive endeavor!

I cannot give an answer that will help sending such big items , but we used to send xmas presents for kids , conscious of weight and physical size using just royal mail . Never had any issues with customs or lost parcels however the price of postage rose a stupid amount over night that we stopped sending as it cost more than the presents . In the end we bought our kids presents and labelled them with names from relatives in Aussy . And they did likewise in Aussy
Like i said it wont help you
I dont think Brexit will affect sending to Aussy unlike the horror story's you hear sending to the EU since brexit

Think it depends on weight... @Terrordales shipped something for me, but post wasn't cheap.

  4. I'd guess a flight is about a grand these days, but at least you could get a holiday out of it!

  5. Agreed, 'our kid' lives in Brizzy and mi mum used to visit every winter, she's often brought back various rare (over here) bits in her luggage . Film posters being my thing a while ago, Aussie ones were very desirable....

Which courier do you use normally Jim? If you speak to them about exporting they'll often set you up a special deal for the countries you think you'll be sending to ;)

I bought an exhaust system from Heritage In West Sussex
    Came via TNT
cost me $100 (50 of your funny money) to land it in my workshop
Not sure if it was subsidised by Heritage but don't think so

Your other option is to ask the buyer to arrange shipping, less hassle for you and you will just need to provide the commodity codes so they can clear customs ok.

I think the mode of transport also bears heavily on cost, if its going via sea, it will take longer but be quite alot cheaper than if you were to send it via air mail which is of course alot quicker, I think the above entry by Pod is a great idea, let the customer sort out postage then they choose the method and price range .

Thanks for the responses folks. I'll have a think. Getting them to sort postage would be a good idea.
