It seems like your really enjoying having the boat alex
I must admit whilst I was in Wiltshire finding any excuse I could to have yet another walk down the canal
I found it very therapeutic
Me n Mrs para we’re saying we’d have to have a drive over to come and see you at some point.

We’re quite inquisitive to be honest as neither of us have ever stepped foot on a narrow boat before

Narrowboats - worse than campers! We've been out polluting the canal with rust and paint dust today.
That's one small red panel, the red stripe ant the top and the "bit you walk on" stripped. I think we'll have to strip all that larger red panel too.
Top tip - don't paint your boat red, there's something bad about red paint.

Yep, reds the wrong end of the spectrum. That's why there are so many 'boring' blue and green ones out there..

Amazing book on the livery of historical working boats and why they were painted as they were...

 

My mate had a narrow boat built in the mid ‘90s. I, and 2 others, spent a few hours on a Sunday morning putting hundreds of red bricks in for ballast. Cant remember how many tons.
That was after we spent a few days in dry dock painting and sealing it all up.At Hilperton Marina.
Good fun.

If you can get hold of a copy for reasonable money do so. They are really quite rare now. Put it on the Xmas wish list and drop loads of needy hints
Edit, looks like they may have re issued it recently. No excuses!

 

I'd have painted ours green TBH, but it was already blue and needed a lot of work so we stayed blue so we could do a bit at a time without looking too mad partway through.
